But I don't think it's the "Twitterization" of mass media. Unsubstantiated and erroneous reports should not be broadcast anywhere, whether its put on Twitter or broadcast over the air on TV. That's just lousy jounrnalism, doesn't matter what medium is used. Personally, I find Twitter to be useful in getting alerts for news or sports stories as a matter of convenience. I have a bunch of them in my timeline and can see what several news outlets are reporting, all in one place. CNN was really trashed on Twitter for announcing there was an arrest when there wasn't one. The Tweets (and reports) from Deadspin.com were both fast and more accurate than CNN, and the latter could learn something from the former.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-573188106264061392.post-12734943302999485712013-04-18T07:50:00.599-05:002013-04-18T07:50:00.599-05:00To your point:

But that was on a somewhat small, controlled scale -- a little "CNN-bloid" stuff here and there but Twitter was a really important news tool. When something big happens on a national scale with so many more "news" outlets involved and so much at stake, THAT's when it gets crazy. It's fascinating to watch and handicap just how many times a "premiere" news outlet must get it terribly wrong before they implode.Robin Marohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05996780855462620605noreply@blogger.com
